Electronic Immigration Cards

Anyone else filled out the immigration card only to go through passport control and have them print one out electronically for you and tell you that you don't need to fill one out anymore? I was pretty well shocked when this happened to me at Vnukovo the other evening. Are they doing this anywhere else?

On a sidenote, I went through DME yesterday and even though I have a temporary residence I was told that I still had to fill out a registration card!!

I was then told that I will still have to fill one out even if I recieve permenent residency!!!

But I sputtered, "I don't have a sponser, I don't know when I will be leaving, and you already know where I am registered to live."

"Doesn't matter," she replied.

Of course, the FMS told me the exact opposite when I got my TRP, and I still think the woman was incorrect, but I still filled out the form.

No, I still have it, because I could still get another "Brainless" idiot on the way out. I am so conditioned by Russian Bureacracy, that I now wear a belt, suspenders, and have duplicates of both in my briefcase.

I have been asked on occasion, and I politely but firmly tell them that the FMS took my landing card when they gave me the TRP, and the border official should consult her superior. Thus far no problems.
